Former partner at collapsed firm Bridge Business Recovery Tony Murphy joins insolvency firm Harrison
EX-BRIDGE BUSINESS RECOVERY PARTNER Tony Murphy has taken a similar role at insolvency specialist Harrison.
Bridge collapsed this month following “significant irregularities” at the firm, with KPMG administrators Colin Haig and Samantha Bewick appointed.
A statement said “The partners of the business sought the advice of KPMG on discovery of significant irregularities, which subsequently led to the court appointing KPMG as administrators.”
Murphy is the first partner from Bridge’s seven, (eight before founder partner James Bradney left) to have announced his move to another firm. He becomes a director in Harrison’s London office and is due to take all work in progress from his time at Bridge, where he was lead administrator, to the firm.
He started his career at Smith & Williamson in 1986 carrying out forensic accounting and fraud investigation work. In 1989 Murphy established the firm’s corporate recovery practice and later founded the company’s insolvency department in Guildford. He left Smith & Williamson in 2003 as national head of corporate restructuring, to set up Bridge Business Recovery.
Paul Boyle, head of national practice Harrisons, said: “We are delighted to welcome Tony to our team. With over 25 years in the industry in a number of leadership roles, his expertise will be invaluable to us.”
Murphy said: “I am delighted to be joining Harrisons at this exciting time. I am looking forward to the new challenges this directorship brings and starting a new phase in my career.”
