ADMINISTRATORS from Begbies Traynor have been called to property developer Whispers Developments, which has been criticised for its lack of progress on a site.
Paul Stanley (pictured) and Gary Lee have been appointed joint administrators to the developer, which has worked on Chaseley Mansion in Salford and converted a Victorian house into luxury flats.
The Royton Assembly was sold to Whispers Developments in 2003 with plans to transform it into a restaurant and wedding venue.
Whispers was fined earlier in the year for failing to secure part of the site, according to reports.
Stanley said: “The refurbishment of Royton Hall has turned into a long-running saga for the council, and local residents are understandably frustrated with the lack of progress.
“Perhaps action should have been taken sooner when it became clear that Whispers Developments was struggling to meet agreed deadlines and service its debts. Our appointment was made by the bank as a defensive response to a winding-up petition served on the company.”
