Accountants glum about job prospects
Accountants view the job market more pessimistically than recruiters, a new survey shows
ACCOUNTANTS are glummer about their job prospects than the people who are hiring them, a new recruitment report shows.
On a scale of 10 (very positive) to -10 (very negative), accountants scored -6, according to a poll of 1,064 professionals conducted by recruiter Marks Sattin.
Managing director Dave Way said: “Accountants are far less confident about the future than those in charge of recruiting them,” saying they have been “bruised by a punishing recession”.
Human resources professionals are more positive about accountants’ prospects, scoring an average of 2.4.
Accountants’ salaries have fallen 2.2% since 2007, while the national headcount has dropped by 6.8%.
