Investors call for direct dialogue with financial report preparers
DIRECT DIALOGUE with financial report preparers is favoured by international investor association the CFA Institute.
Commenting after the launch of the Financial Reporting Council’s lab – an initiative to facilitate dialogue between report preparers and users – Papa said it was “worthwhile to get stakeholders talking”.
This is preferable to “brokerage through standard setters”, he continued, saying concerned parties should agree on the best approach and present it jointly to standard setters, thereby gaining “more leverage”.
The FRC’s financial reporting lab was launched earlier this month, and organisers hope it will act as an “experimentation zone” to get investors and business talking.
