MITIE's McGregor-Smith awarded CBE
The FTSE 250 outsourcing chief and chartered accountant picks up CBE in New Year's Honour's List
CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT and MITIE Group chief executive officer Ruby McGregor-Smith has been awarded a CBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List.
McGregor-Smith, who qualified as a chartered accountant with BDO Stoy Hayward, was awarded the CBE for services to business and diversity in business.
She has previously served as MITIE’s group FD and then COO, before taking the chief role in 2007. McGregor-Smith is also a non-executive at recruiters Michael Page International, where she chairs its audit committee.
“I am truly honoured and humbled by this award,” said McGregor-Smith. “I am passionate about promoting opportunities, entrepreneurialism and diversity in the UK, and delighted to have made a contribution and been recognised with such an honour.”
Donald McGougan, lately director of finance at the City of Edinburgh Council, was awarded an OBE for services to local government.
Several HM Revenue & Customs staff picked up awards in the list.
Michael Wells, director of HMRC’s risk and intelligence service, London, picked up a CBE.
Roderick Stone, deputy co-ordinator, specialist investigations, missing trader intra-community, London at HMRC, was awarded an MBE.
