MENZIES HAS APPOINTED Julie Adams as senior partner of the mid-tier firm. Mike Sands, who held the role for 18 years, has stepped down from the position but is remaining with the practice.
The appointment makes her the only female head of a mid-tier firm.
The handover comes at a busy time for Menzies. In March, it announced a strategic partnership with Insight Management & Systems Consultants, a decision made by the firm to expand its finance systems and accounting service line provision. Menzies, ranked 22 in 2011’s Accountancy Age Top 50 survey, is also celebrating its centenary of providing advisory services.
The firm is attempting to deal with what it describes as a “changing client base” by providing a broader range of services, including wealth management, advice and support for companies operating internationally. It also recently launched an HR consultancy.
Of the future direction of Menzies, Adams said: “Business owners rely on our advice because we make extra effort to understand their company and their circumstances. Menzies will continue to strive to meet this demand and new services, business tools and structures, maintaining a distinctive brand that offers a strong value proposition.”
Andrew Jenner, director at practice consultancy Kato, said of Adams’ new role: “She’s been managing partner at the firm for a long time. She’s very capable and is currently running a huge portfolio.”
