Firm advises golf pro and signs up sponsorship deal
Accountant and ex-rugby player Ally McLaughlin to advise and mentor new European golf pro Jamie Dunster
A FORMER rugby professional and accountant will be helping manage on-and off-course matters for new European golf pro Jamie Dunster.
Ally McLaughlin, a former professional rugby player with Worcester Warriers, will manage the financial affairs of Worcestershire’s newest European Tour golf professional Dunster – as well as providing sports mentoring advice.
The deal also involves McLaughlin’s firm Bishop Fleming Rabjohns sponsoring Dunster for a three-year period.
“The last thing that Jamie needs, as he launches his professional golfing career, is having to worry about his accounts and dealing with the tax-man, so we’ll deal with all that”, said McLaughlin.
“It is probably a unique example of an accountant providing sporting guidance, but I know from my own experience how a young sports professional can benefit from some guidance on handling the pressures. I was lucky, because rugby is a team game, so I had others in the team to help guide me: golf is a solitary game, so Jamie will be on his own.”
