Cliff Baty to join Sportech after seven years with Ladbrokes
POOLS AND TOTE gaming business Sportech has appointed Cliff Baty as CFO.
Baty joins from Ladbrokes, where he is currently FD of its international businesses and corporate development. He has served with Ladbrokes for seven years, previously holding the group financial controller role at Hilton Group. He spent ten years at Ernst & Young, where he qualified as a chartered accountant.
He takes on the Sportech role in in May, with the current incumbent, Steve Cunliffe, leaving in March.
Ian Penrose, chief executive, said: “I am delighted to welcome Cliff to the team. He brings extensive industry and financial experience to our company, and his appointment completes the restructuring of our senior management team.”
In a recent trading update, Sportech said it had been informed that a tribunal decision on a VAT repayment claim for up to £80m will be made in February, rather than the end of January. The claim, for VAT applied to its ‘Spot the Ball’ competition between 1979 and 1996, was made by Sportech in 2009.
