MAREK GRABOWSKI, the FRC’s director of audit policy, has been appointed to the global auditing standard setter the IAASB.
As a UK member of the board, Grabowski will work with other members towards developing global standards on auditing and assurance that enhance public trust in financial reports, the FRC said.
He will take up his position from 1 January 2014 and will serve on the board for an initial period of three years.
Professor Arnold Schilder, chairman of the IAASB said of the appointment: “Marek brings with him four years of experience leading the development of auditing standards for the UK and Ireland while making a strong contribution to our work over the same period. He also brings a wealth of technical and practical experience as a former auditor and capital markets transaction specialist over 31 years.”
As part of his work on the IAASB, Grabowski will require the support of a technical adviser. The FRC will recruit for this position shortly.
