'Small number' of jobs at risk as EY Nottingham office to merge into its Birmingham site
EY IS TO CLOSE its Nottingham office, with some jobs under threat as a result.
Based in Nottingham’s City Gate West, the Big Four firm will consolidate into its Birmingham practice. The decision has been made as EY moves to more flexible working, and with the Nottingham lease up for renewal. A small office presence will remain in Nottingham for a transitional period.
“Our intention is to retain as many of our people as possible and will work with them over the coming weeks to ensure a smooth transition into their new office. Regrettably, there are a small number of people whose roles have been put at risk of redundancy as a result of these changes,” said an EY spokeswoman.
Nearly 120 staff operate out of the two-partner Nottingham site, while about 600 staff currently work in Birmingham. Details of the job types for staff at risk of redundancy have not been provided.
The firm denied that it was scaling back its operations in the Midlands.
“This is in no way a removal from the market in the East Midlands and we remain committed to the clients we currently serve across the region and consider it to be of strategic importance to the business,” the spokeswoman added.
