First judges revealed for the British Accountancy Awards

ACCOUNTANCY AGE is delighted to reveal the first tranche of judges confirmed for the British Accountancy Awards, representing the top personalities and figures in the accounting, business and finance communities.

The British Accountancy Awards is in the fourth year in its current format, following the successful Accountancy Age Awards. The Awards and ceremony, held this year at The Brewery in London, will recognise the best British practices and individuals.

The first seven judges confirmed include Margaret Hodge, chairwoman of the Public Accounts Committee and outspoken critic of tax avoidance. Also confirmed is Christopher Hill, group CFO of FTSE 250-listed financial spread-betting business IG. John Whiting, tax director at the Office for Tax Simplification will also take part in the judging.

Anne Fairpo – president, CIoT and barrister, Thirteen Old Square Chambers and Atlas Tax Chambers
Jane Howard – partner, Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co
Andy Howell – partner, Taylor Wessing
Mark Lee – chairman, Tax Advice Network
Elspeth Orcharton – tax director, ICAS

More than 20 judges will be picked to go through the entries. New categories include Top 50 Team Awards, which recognise excellence by service line, including corporate finance, tax, pensions, and wealth management, and are open to firms within the Accountancy Age Top 50 league table. Individual awards include both ‘Young Practitioner’ and ‘Practitioner of the Year’ categories.

Shortlists will be revealed in late summer/early autumn.
