Biggest Accountancy Firms
The biggest accountancy firms table ranks the top 15 firms in the UK by total UK fee income.
PwC, Deloitte, EY, KPMG, Grant Thornton, BDO, RSM, Smith & Williamson, Moore Stephens, Mazars, PKF UKI, Saffery Champness, Haines Watts, Crowe Clark Whitehill and UHY Hacker Young are the leading firms in the UK accountancy industry. The firms’ services span advisory, audit and assurance, tax, risk consulting and management consulting, and capital and transaction management. All 15 firms work across a variety of industries, including aerospace, automotive, banking, construction, hospitality, pharmaceuticals, transportation, wealth management, media, government and public sector, manufacturing, private equity, technology, oil and energy, financial services, healthcare, insurance, professional services, real estate, retail, and telecommunications.
While the Big 4 firms of PwC, Deloitte, EY and KPMG have held steady at the top of the table for numerous years, the firms in fifth to fifteenth position have also experienced notable growth, expanding their practices to extend their client offering and provide expertise in a number of specialist industries. Audit in particular is becoming increasing competitive across the Top 6 firms.
Collectively, the biggest accountancy firms have nearly 5,000 partners. The current leaders of each UK firm are Kevin Ellis (PwC), David Sproul (Deloitte), Steve Varley (EY), Bill Michael (KPMG), Sacha Romanovitch (Grant Thornton), Paui Eagland (BDO), Laurence Longe (RSM), David Cobb and Kevin Stopps (Smith & Williamson), Phil Verity (Mazars), Carmine Papa (PKF UKI), Rob Elliott (Saffery Champness), Andy Minifie (Haines Watts), David Mellor (Crowe Clark Whitehill), and Jon Warsop (UHY Hacker Young.
